Travel Info and Links

Canada is the second largest country in the world and consists of ten provinces and three territories. It covers six time zones and takes about 9 hours to fly between the two coasts or 9 hours to drive from Windsor to Ottawa. A 7 hour car drive (approx. 600 km) will take you from Montreal to Toronto. As such, the vast distances make it impossible to offer more than a taste of what Canada has to offer – from both tourism and Holstein perspectives.

The World Conference will be centrally located in Toronto and offer organized farm tours in Ontario and Western Quebec where approximately 80% of Holstein farms can be found. If an international group would like to visit farms in Western or Eastern Canada, on their way to or from the Conference, conference sponsor AgriTours would be happy to assist you in planning your itinerary.

Canada is a bilingual, multi-cultural country. As such, service in both English and French will be available throughout the Conference. Interpretation services will also be provided during the two day Symposium and WHFF General Assembly into Spanish, German and Japanese.

The average temperature in Toronto in November is about 1º C to 11ºC (30º F to 52ºF). Visitors should be prepared for a variety of temperatures as well as sun, rain or snow, and pack clothing that can be layered. Dress for most events is informal / casual (jeans are fine). Business casual is suggested for the Symposium and WHFF General Assembly. Semi-formal dress is recommended for the Gala Banquet.

All registration prices will be listed in Canadian dollars. It is recommended that visitors be prepared to make any purchases using Canadian currency. Although American currency is generally accepted in Canada, the exchange rate is not always provided.
